The last two decades of research have brought a tremendous improvement in knowledge of the endocannabinoid system (eCB system) components and functions under physiological and pathological conditions. The eCB is a neuromodulatory system consists of two subtypes of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2.
The Human Endocannabinoid System
CBD, CBN and THC fit like a lock and key into existing human receptors. These receptors are part of the enocannabinoid system which impact physiological processes affecting pain modulation, memory, appetite, anti-inflammatory effects and other immune system reponses. The endocannabinoid system comprises two types of receptors, CB1 and CB2, which serve distinct functions in human health and well-being.
CBD does not directly “fit” CB1 or CB2 receptors but has powerful indirect effects still being studied.
CB1 receptors are primarily found in the brain and central nervous system and to a lesser extent in other tissues.
CB2 receptors are mostly in the perepheral organs especially cells associated with the immune system.
CB1 receptors are the most abundant in the central neural system, expressed in both neurons and glial cells, where they regulate important brain functions including cognition and memory, emotion, motor control, feeding, and pain perception.
CB1 receptors are mostly located at the terminals of neurons of the central and peripheral nervous system where they act as modulators of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission.
CB1 receptors are also found in peripheral tissues, playing an important role in energy balance and metabolism. CB2 receptors are localized in cells of the immune system and modulate the immune cell migration and the release of cytokines; within the nervous system CB2 receptors are mainly located in microglia. Together these two receptors modulate the proper functioning of eCB system is extremely critical for day-to-day functions of our bodies, Newest research have shown that eCB system is as important as human immune system and have a major role in the healthy aging of human beings.
Phytocannabinoids are molecules from Cannabis plant which modulates cannabinoids. Cannabidiol (CBD) and Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two major phytocannabinoid compound derived from the hemp plant that have significant potential as a therapeutic targets across an array of peripheral and neuropsychiatric disease states.

Apotheca Biosciences’ R & D capabilities includes state-of-the art extraction equipments and a dosage formulation lab to develop various forms of pharmaceutical-grade formulation. This includes steam and CO2 extractors, nano emulsion sprayers, high-shear mixers, and analytical equipment to precisely measure the components of cannabis.
Apotheca Biosciences’ is installing a world-class production facility to manufacture various hemp-derived products. The 3000 square feet production facility conforms to the ISO 14644-1/14698 standards and houses ISO 2 & 3 class clean rooms. This facility allows us to produce the highest quality products for our customers .
